Energy Art is exactly that. It’s the art that is created to translate the energy within a given space. As a highly sensitive and hyper-aware person, I pick up on various subtle unconscious energies around my person. I’ve come to realize it’s a gift. Through abstract painting, drawing, and collage techniques, I use my gift to make energy visible.

frame backboard, oil pastels, acrylic paint, paper mache, hot glue, glass beads

I displayed the first layer of oil pastels on repurposed frame backboard at Du Nord in Oct. 2019.

The recycled paper mache pinta is made of old paper from college in 2009, magazines held together by flour and water. I made this pinta for the Inquilinxs Unidxs Por Justicia--United Renters for Justice fundraiser.

The breast prints are from a local body healing session through art at an MLK retreat for Black and Brown leaders. In June 2021, I added a layer of those breast prints and paper mache using hot glue following the move to my first stable living situation since 2019.

magazine pages, gesso, paper, oil pastels, glue, acrylic paint, cardboard

I collect magazine clippings of femme women of color, folks who's body resemble mine as a way to break the toxic white supremacist narrative in my brain--my body. I glue them using gesso and layering it with more gesso by dropping from overhead--this is all on cardboard. All topped off with a cutting from a different acrylic poured cardboard.

I used a piece of cloth paper to imitate the circular pattern on the black watercolor paper. It's layered with dry pastels and metallic watercolor. This piece is part of my future textile & energy art collection.
